Face Transmutation – Digital Canvas Series
Year: 2024 – 1920×1080 – MP4
Face Transmutation digital canvas is a series of AI motion experiments by Dothy Moroders, exploring the painted human portrait and flesh. Faces melt, shift and reform like wet paint on a moving surface.
About the Face Transmutation digital canvas series
The series starts from a simple question: what happens when a portrait stops being a fixed image? Here, the human face is treated as a living pigment. Skin, eyes and flesh stretch, drip and recompose in loops, somewhere between oil painting, sculpture and digital animation. Each transformation is a transmutation: one identity dissolves into matter and comes back as another.
Themes
Portraiture has always been about capturing a person. These pieces do the opposite and let the face escape. The viewer watches a likeness appear, hesitate and give way, and is left with the unsettling beauty of a body that cannot stay still. It is a reflection on identity, impermanence and the strange intimacy of looking at a face that is being repainted in real time.
Process
Each sequence was generated, selected and refined in a hybrid workflow, where AI produces the raw material and motion design and VFX shape the rhythm, texture and flow of the transformation.
Format
The series includes an edited sequence with sound and a seamless loop, both delivered as 1920×1080 MP4 files. It sits alongside other AI art experiments: Fluid Boundaries, SOLEIDE, Coral Plurial and Underwater.
